EA
Cricket 2002 is probably the best of the cricket games released so far.EA seems to be
improving with every new cricket game they release. This game has
a major difference with the previous game Cricket 97 also from EA.The good point of the
game is the player detail is very high. The player and other objects size is large enough
unlike Cricket 97. It
is also good to see that the commentry has been greatly improved. There are two
commentators this time,Richie Benaud and Jim Maxwell.More detailed commentry is
added. There are 22 stadiums and the variety in pitches, weather and conditions is
great.Day/Night matches are there followed by World Cup,Knockout,Test Series,Sharjah
Trophy,Net Practice and One Dayers. The most important feature of the game is the player's
faces. There is so much resemblance in their faces.Variety in shots is very high. There are
so many shots that at first you confuse yourself with the keys and you have to spend first
few hours in Net Practice to get familiar with the keys.
Every game has some drawbacks , and
so has Cricket 2002.The gameplay is not satisfactory.Once you get familiar with the
keys,it's very hard for you to lose the game even on the hard mode especially while
bowling. The computer batting is so defensive that it will score just about 90 runs
in 40 overs for the loss of 2 or 3 wickets. This makes the game boring. This problem is
faced by almost everybody. But with help of recent patches you can overcome this problem
Thanks to the patches released and it
is hard to believe that they are not made by official EA staff. There are absolutely no
graphics at the end of the match which does not makes the winner content.
But the cricket generation is not over.EA
will be releasing the next Cricket game maybe in 2004.Let's hope for the best and wait for
the next cricket game and
until that time comes enjoy the game with the help of ongoing patches.
